Indigenously Developed Missile
The LRLACM is an indigenously developed missile, with all its subsystems created by various DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru, serves as the nodal laboratory for this project. Senior DRDO officials, along with representatives from the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, were present during the launch.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO team and industry partners on the successful test of the LRLACM. Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence (R&D) and Chairman DRDO, Rajesh Kumar Singh, monitored all activities during the launch and congratulated all team members involved in the successful test.
Earlier, on June 13, DRDO successfully demonstrated several key technologies aimed at strengthening the nation's defence capabilities against various types of enemy threats.
Multi-layered Defence System Demonstrated
Three consecutive flight tests were conducted on June 10 and 11 to demonstrate a multi-layered defence system against long-range ballistic missiles and medium-range anti-ship threats. The multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability was successfully demonstrated, with interceptors successfully engaging their respective targets.
These systems have been designed and developed using modern technologies to counter emerging missile-related threats. These tests have placed the country among the select few nations possessing a Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system capable of intercepting even Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). The maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NSM-MR) was also successfully conducted. Senior officials from the DRDO and the armed forces witnessed these flight tests.
IND-A vs SL-A: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets into a fight with Lankan player after India A's Super Over loss; watch video
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got himself into a fight after India A's Super Over loss to Sri Lanka A in a game of the ongoing Tri-Nation series on Monday at the Dambulla International Stadium.
The incident took place just after the match ended when Sooryavanshi engaged into a war of words, which eventually led to a fight. Suyansh Shedge intervened and dragged Sooryavanshi out.
After the match ended in a tie, Sri Lanka A scored 17 runs in the Super Over. In reply, Sooryavanshi and Shedge came out to chase for India. However, to everyone's surprise, Shedge took strike instead of Sooryavanshi. The Mumbai batter just managed three runs in the first three balls.
Although Sooryavanshi smashed two fours in the next three deliveries, but it wasn't enough as India A suffered their first defeat in the tournament. Soon after the game, the cameras caught Sooryavanshi into a war of words with the Sri Lankan players. He was seen pushing a Lankan player, before Shedge pulled the 15-year-old from te chaos. The video went viral in no time.
Sooryavanshi didn't look happy and had to calmed down before making their way towards the pavilion.
What happened in India A vs Sri Lanka A?
Batting first, Sooryavanshi (21 off 14) once again got out after giving India A a flying start but spin bowling all-rounders Suryansh Shedge 72 off 66 and Vipraj Nigam (51 off 49) hit timely fifties to take the visitors to 265. Sri Lanka A, who had gifted India A the game with a late batting collapse in the series opener, learned from that outing to take the game deep.
It was India A's second loss in the competition, having also gone down against Afghanistan A. In reply, Sri Lanka A were off to a flying start before a few wickets from Suyansh Shedge and Ayush Badoni slowed things down. But it was Sadeera Samarawickrame's 93 that kept Sri Lanka A in the game.
With five runs need off the final six balls, Arshad Khan cleaned up Samarawickrame to give India A a chance. But a controversial run out on the final ball forced a Super Over.
